Healing Little Hearts is a UK based registered children’s charity that provides free heart surgery (open heart surgery and interventional cardiac catheterisation) to babies and children in the developing parts of the world.
Every year more than a million children are born with Congenital Heart Disease worldwide. Sadly, only 10% of these children receive the life saving treatment they desperately need. The vast majority of those who do not receive the treatment live in the countries we visit.
Its primary aim is to ensure all children are given the opportunity to live the life they deserve.
In Liverpool recently, the lead of the Merseyside Branch of the charity, Dr Ramana Dhannapuneni. Leading Cardiologist at Alder Hey, along with his outstanding committee, held a Charity Gala and raised an outstanding £34,000.
The Lord-Lieutenant was represented at the event by Julie Lawson BEM DL, who is also involved with the charity and involved in organising the event. Julie reported that, “There will be a donation made to Alder Hey Cardiac unit, and the remaining funds will pay for flights to third world countries for the Teams, including Cardiologist, anaesthesiologist, and specialist nurses, to save children’s lives through free heart surgery.” Well done to all concerned in the fund-raising and delivery of this important work.
