A meeting of the Faith Leaders’ Group of Merseyside took place recently, held at Liverpool Hope University. The meeting was hosted by Professor Claire Ozanne, Chancellor of Liverpool Hope University, and was Chaired by Dr Crispin Pailing MBE DL who first established the Group in 2018. Leaders of most of the faiths in Merseyside were at the gathering, which heard a number of presentations as well as plenary discussions on areas of common concern.
The importance of the group is reflected in the growth of personal ties that have developed through getting to know one-another and respecting each-other’s faiths.
Crispin said, “The relationships formed through the Group have been important as we have worked together to tackle challenges from the pandemic through to extremism.”
Peter Oliver OBE DL also attended the meeting and noted that the group is, “Clearly a very key and collaborative group of leaders across some of our communities, and some of our most impacted communities in the current climate of civil society. I found it very informative and it was a pleasure to be able to listen and engage.”
