Citizenship Sue Higginson

The First Citizenship Ceremony of 2026 – St. George’s Hall

Sue Higginson OBE DL attended the most recent Citizenship Ceremony at St. George’s Hall yesterday, Sunday 4th January 2026.

Sue said, “It was an honour to represent our Lord-Lieutenant, Mr Peter Oliver OBE,  by attending the first of our 2026 Citizenship ceremonies to take place in St George’s Hall, Liverpool.  I was able to extend a warm welcome to our newest British Citizens,  who represented every continent, excepting Antarctica. I thanked them for choosing Merseyside as their home and for the considerable contributions they are making both professionally and through their work within our community. I wish them every success for the future as our newest British Citizens.”

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland has a strong record of welcoming those who wish to make this country their home, and who can prove that they want to contribute to it. Merseyside is a place in which successful, happy lives can be made and we hope that all of those who received their citizenship yesterday will benefit from the opportunities which it offers to those with ambition and aspirations.
