The Mayor and Mayoress of Wirral hosted a Civic Burns Night Supper for the Mayor’s Charity Fund that is supporting The Holistic Cancer Centre, based in Wirral, which provides a range of supportive therapies for people who have cancer, and Mersey Mind Project which supports mental health and wellbeing.
Sue Higginson OBE was delighted to represent our Lord-Lieutenant at this Civic evening, which was also attended by the High Sheriff of Merseyside and his Consort, The Lord Mayor of Chester, Mayor of Sefton and Mayor of St Helens, along with many members of the community.
Sue expressed her thanks on behalf of the Lord-Lieutenant, to the wonderful volunteers who supported this event, including Merseyside Fire and Rescue – Fire Cadets, who provided a guard of honour to greet guests and teams from each of the Charities and the Mayor of Wirral’s Charity Committee who worked hard to make the evening a huge success. After a member of Wirral Pipe Band piped in the haggis, with the traditional ‘Ode to the Haggis’ a wonderful evening was enjoyed by all including traditional Scottish country dancing for everyone to take part, with great instruction for beginners.
