The Lieutenancy Celebrated International Women’s Day right across the weekend at various events. Tomorrow’s Women Wirral Team held a special event with over 140 women who work, volunteer and are supported by the organisation. The event included inspiring insights from local MP Alison McGovern, the first female MP for Birkenhead; also Becky Kelly a Senior Probation Officer who works from the Tomorrow’s Women base. The theme of this years International Women’s Day is Give to Gain and Sue Higginson OBE DL also shared some of her stories of being part of our community as a Deputy Lieutenant. Sue had been at the Tomorrow’s Women Centre when it opened fifteen years ago, writing on the wall (with permission) “Tomorrow’s Women, Creating Today’s Opportunities – Priceless.” This has become a reality with over 17,000 women supported since the Centre opened.
