RNLI Hoylake and RNLI West Kirby visit.

The RNLI have been saving lives at sea since 1824, and over which time has saved more than 146,000 lives.

On 12th June the Lord-Lieutenant and Clerk of the Lieutenancy were delighted to join the teams at RNLI Hoylake and RNLI West Kirby to learn more about their incredible work and history.

Established in 1803, Hoylake is one of the oldest lifeboat stations in the UK, although its boathouse and Shannon class lifeboat are state-of-the-art. It covers Liverpool Bay and the approaches to the River Mersey and River Dee.

For 40 years an inshore lifeboat at West Kirby has covered an area off the north west tip of the Wirral peninsula. Today’s D class lifeboat is a re-engineered and updated version of the original.

Thank you for the warm welcome, taking the time to help us learn, for the excellent orange drizzle cake, but most importantly for all your hard work and commitment.

We look forward to continuing to support you.
