NWAS recognised Armed Forces Reserves Day

NWAS recognised Armed Forces Reserves Day

North West Ambulance Service Trust formally recognised Armed Forces Reserves Day, yesterday, Wednesday 24th June 2026 with NWAS staff who are Armed Forces Reservists and Volunteer Cadet Instructors who serve within the Trust.

Reservists give their most precious gift, their time, to serve in the Reserve Forces, balancing civilian life with a military career to ensure that, should their country require them, they would be ready to serve as part of the military. Reservists are currently supporting operations worldwide.

The Reserve Forces make up approximately one sixth of our Armed Forces Personnel and as such are integral to protecting the Nation’s security at home and overseas, particularly providing capability in specialist areas such as medical and cyber.

Well done to all our reservists, and to NWAS for taking the time out to highlight and recognise the valuable contribution your staff who are Reservists make to our Armed Forces.

The Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Dr. Ruth Hussey CB OBE attended the event on behalf of the Lord-Lieutenant and was delighted to meet such a large group of Reservists making this important contribution. The event included an appearance by Kevin Ruane, who is the NWAS Fire Safety Manager and also a Town Crier!
