Mark Underhill OBE DL visited Bee Troop Community Apiary yesterday along with the Clerk of the Lieutenancy, Helen Tanzey, to see the progress that its founder, Karl Birch has made in establishing a quiet space for Armed Forces Veterans to come and learn Beekeeping skills, or simply chat and relax. The aim is to improve Veterans’ wellbeing and mental health in a safe location.
The hive was set up in April and is already making great progress. The Parkhaven Trust in Maghull has very kindly allowed the Apiary to be established in the grounds in an area set aside for community allotments. The bees will aid pollination and no doubt in due course the honey will be enjoyed by all!
