British Empire Medal ceremony

On Friday 21st November 2025 seven British Empire Medals were presented in public recognition of the outstanding service given to the communities of Merseyside by these exceptional people.

Dr. George Bramham BEM – for services to the community in Merseyside as an Emergency Medicine Trainee on 29th July 2024 during the tragic incidents of that day.

Mr. Graymond Guy BEM – for services to Road Safety and Heavy Vehicles as a passionate Passenger Carrying Vehicle Driving Instructor.

Mrs. Karyn Hannaway BEM – for voluntary service to Sport and the Community in Sefton encouraging sports at grass roots level and in particular children with disabilities in her community.

Mr. Martin Johnson BEM – for services to the community in North West England, as an Operating Department Practitioner at Southport General Hospital, on duty on 29th July 2024 during the tragic incidents that day.

Miss Elizabeth Parsons BEM – for services to the Community in Merseyside as Lead Nurse for General Surgery in Theatres in Southport General Hospital, on duty on 29th July 2024 during the tragic incidents that day.

Mrs. Catherine Stanley BEM – for services to People with Huntington’s Disease as Chief Executive of the Huntington’s Disease Association.

Mrs. Lisa Vint BEM – for services to Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention in Merseyside, raising thousands of pounds to remove the stigma of mental health and suicide.

The medals were presented by the Lord-Lieutenant, hosted by the Mayor of Sefton, Cllr June Burns in Southport Town Hall. The ceremony was also attended by the Mayor of Knowsley, Cllr Ken McGlashan. All of the BEM recipients in the Birthday Honours this year were from either Sefton or Knowsley.

An emotional day, and an important one to recognise such extraordinary service.
