Today, 21st November 2025, the Lord-Lieutenant presented the Elizabeth Emblem to Mrs. Sylvia Hallworth. It is a commemorative emblem as a mark of recognition for those who lost their life in the course of undertaking eligible public service.
Mrs. Hallworth’s daughter, Lisa, lost her life on 20th November 2003 in an attack on the British Consulate General in Istanbul.
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to all those who give public service, and there can be no greater giving than to lose one’s life in that service. I hope that Mrs. Hallsworth received the Elizabeth Emblem in the knowledge that her daughter Lisa’s service and ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Many thanks to the Mayor of Sefton, Cllr June Burns for hosting the presentation in the beautiful Mayor’s Parlour in Southport Town Hall.
