The German Church Liverpool is a Christian congregation which offer fortnightly services in the German language. It was originally established in 1846 on a ship in the Liverpool Docks. Now located in a purpose built modern church in the Georgian Quarter, it also provides a home for other international congregations.

The German speaking congregation also organises cultural events ranging from poetry readings, topical talks, to lantern processions, concerts and the well known German Christmas Fair.

On Friday, they held a Summer Fete celebrating the 180th anniversary of the parish.

Deputy Lieutenant Dr Crispin Pailing MBE represented the Lord-Lieutenant at the event, which by all accounts was great fun as well as recognising that the congregation has been part of Liverpool’s civic and cultural life for 180 years! Liverpool has, of course, a rich history of welcoming European communities. Crispin is pictured here with Cllr Natalie Nicholas and representatives from the Church.
