Marking Holocaust Day

Holocaust Memorial Day

The Merseyside Lieutenancy has been marking Holocaust Memorial Day over the last few days, attending services across Merseyside.

The Lord-Lieutenant, Mr. Peter Oliver OBE, attended the Sefton Holocaust Memorial Service on Sunday, hosted by Rev Ben Dyer at Christ Church, Lord Street Southport.

The Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Dr. Ruth Hussey CB OBE, attended a service at Liverpool Town Hall yesterday and Anne Morris DL attended a service at St. Helens Town Hall today.

Today is a timely reminder of the horror that can be caused by intolerance.

Dr. Hussey noted, “I was honoured to attend Holocaust Memorial Day at Liverpool Town Hall on behalf of the Lord-Lieutenant. The theme of ‘Bridging Generations’ illustrated through moving stories by students  from Alsop High School and Archbishop Blanch Church of England High School. Thoughtful music and singing by King David school choir.”
