HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh GCVO visits Liverpool

Liverpool hosted the Royal College of Ophthalmologists at the Arena and Convention Centre this week (19th to 21st May) and we were delighted to receive a visit from HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh GCVO, who is Global Ambassador, International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness.

HRH met with the Chief Executive of the RCOphth, Mr. Ali Rivett, President of the RCOphth, Professor Ben Burton and other specialists, hearing about the latest research, medical treatments and innovations.

HRH then went onto visit the Royal School for the Blind and Rushton Futures in Wavertree, meeting the Head of Ruston Futures, Dr. Crispin Pailing MBE DL, and Head of the Royal School for the Blind, Mrs. Vicky Dwyer along with many staff and of course pupils.

Clearly a most enjoyable visit for all concerned and one which certainly the students, and probably the staff will never forget.

Many thanks to the High Sheriff of Merseyside, Mr. Billy Hui BEM DL for receiving HRH for the second half of the visit.
