KAVS Assessments are underway

Berkley Junior Football Club Prescot underwent their assessment on Saturday 21st February, having been nominated for The Kings Award for Voluntary Service.

The visit provided an opportunity for the two Deputy Lieutenants undertaking to the assessments to meet with Club Chair Ian Leadbetter and learn more about the outstanding work the club is delivering within the local community.

Equivalent to an MBE, The King’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK. It recognises organisations that are making a truly exceptional difference in their communities, and Berkley JFC is a shining example of exactly that.

More than just a football club, Berkley JFC plays a vital role in supporting young people and families, promoting teamwork, inclusion, discipline and wellbeing. Run by a dedicated team of volunteers, the club provides a safe, positive and inspiring environment where young players can develop both on and off the pitch.

During the visit, Liam Hanlon DE and Lesley Martin-Wright DL heard first-hand about the club’s growth, its commitment to accessibility, and the countless hours contributed by volunteers who make everything possible. The passion, pride and community spirit surrounding the club were clear to see.

Liam commented on how inspiring it is to witness grassroots organisations making such a meaningful impact, highlighting the power of volunteering to strengthen communities and create opportunities for young people.

We wish Berkley Junior Football Club every success with their King’s Award application, recognition that would be richly deserved for a club that continues to make a real difference across the community.
