Little Centre with Mayor

Little Beechwood Centre

The Little Centre Beechwood in Birkenhead held a professional event on 16th March, screening of a film which was written and performed by the youth at the Little Centre regarding ASB issues from the youth’s perspective. There were also displays of other creative projects which contributed to the making of the film.

The Little Centre has previously received a grant of just over £1,000 in October last year to fund a warm meal for school children who attend after school for reading sessions from the Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund Merseyside. As a result, two of the Deputy Lieutenants who sit on the Grants Committee, Marlene Amoo DL and Liam Hanlon DL, were delighted to attend this inspiring event. There were many providers of services, funding and professionals who had all contributed to the work of The Little Centre Beechwood, including the Mayor of Wirral Councillor Brian Kenny and Mayoress Helen Kenny.

Liam said, “It was a fantastic opportunity to meet Ellen Woods, the Little Centre Manager and to see first-hand the incredible work taking place at the centre and to hear more about the wide range of activities and initiatives supporting young people in the community.”

“A highlight of the afternoon was the screening of a powerful film written and performed by young people, offering a compelling insight into ASB issues from their perspective. The creativity, honesty and talent on display were truly impressive. It was also wonderful to explore the accompanying creative projects that played a key role in bringing the film to life.”

“The launch of the new youth project is an exciting step forward, giving young people a voice in shaping future events and initiatives aimed at improving their local area. This collaborative approach, bringing together services, funders and professionals, is a testament to what can be achieved when communities work together.”

“A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the past 18 months at The Little Centre Beechwood such a success. I look forward to seeing how this important work continues to grow and make a lasting difference.”
