The Not Forgotten is a 105 year old Military Charity whose Patron is HRH The Princess Royal, supporting over 10,000 sick and injured veterans and injured serving personnel every year. Through social activities, respite breaks and challenges and peer support, they provide a varied programme of events which improve physical and mental health, combat isolation and loneliness and promote a sense of community and camaraderie to those who miss that sense of belonging, restoring confidence and self-belief, lifting spirits and transforming veterans’ lives.
Since it was founded in 1920, The Not Forgotten has helped veterans of all ages, ranks, backgrounds and disabilities across all three military services and the Merchant Navy. It supports individuals with any physical or mental injury or illness, whether acquired in service or developed later as a veteran.
Julie Lawson BEM DL recently represented the Lord-Lieutenant at a Not Forgotten Garden Party at Aintree Racecourse.
Julie said, “It was a happy day for the veterans and their families to get together for a fundraising event for the Not Forgotten charity where approximately £800 was raised.
The afternoon tea was beautiful and served in the Papillon Lounge in the Earl of Derby stand at Aintree overlooking the racecourse.”
