Rainford Annual Walking Day Celebration

Rainford Annual Walking Day Celebration

On Saturday 20th June 2026, Rainford took to the streets for the annual Walking Day celebration.

This year’s was the 149th Walking Day – originally a treat for the Sunday School children of All Saints Parish Church. An interesting concept of “treat”!

Following a short service at All Saints, the line up commences. These days it’s a celebration by all the village, still led by the Sunday School banner and All Saints choir, but with representation from the three churches and three Primary Schools, Rainford Council, three brass bands, and twelve church organisations from All Saints.

The procession lasts for a little over an hour, with the streets lined by members of the community as around seven hundred adults and children pass by!

The aerial view was taken by a local estate agent’s drone – many thanks!

Also pictured are Rev Janet Heighton, the Vicar of All Saints Rainford with Deputy Lieutenant Anne Morris, who attended on behalf of the Lord-Lieutenant.
