The King’s Award for Voluntary Service – eight great groups selected for 2025.

Following approval from His Majesty The King, it has been announced today that eight voluntary organisations in Merseyside have been selected to receive The King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) the MBE for volunteer groups.

This is the highest award a Voluntary organisation can receive and it is awarded for life.

The Lord-Lieutenant sends his congratulations to all of these tremendous organisations whose volunteers consistently go above and beyond to help others in their local area.  They are an example to us all!

So who are these fabulous groups?  Well done to:

Knowsley:

Prescot Festival of Music and the Arts

Liverpool:

Breckfield and North Everton Neighbourhood Council Ltd.

St. Helens:

Home-Start St. Helens

Newton-le-Willows FC

Sefton:

Ainsdale in Bloom

Bootle Action Group CIC

Sea Cadets Sefton

Wirral:

Moreton in Bloom

This is a great number from only 232 awarded across the United Kingdom.

The Award was created in 2002 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubiliee and was previously known as the QAVS.  The Award has been shining a light on the fantastic work of voluntary groups from all across the UK for many years.

The Lord-Lieutenant will present the awards in the New Year.

These groups were nominated by people who knew about the good work they do – you must know a group also doing great work – it’s not too late to nominate them for the 2026 awards – nominations are open until 1stDecember.

More information on the recipients and the Award can be found at https://kavs.dcms.gov.uk/
