A memorial stone dedicated to the personnel of Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and its constituent organisations has been unveiled in St. John’s Gardens in Liverpool City Centre today, Monday 22nd June 2026.

The memorial recognises all those members who have served to keep their communities safe since the establishment of the first municipal fire brigades.

The unveiling coincided with the anniversary of the Henderson’s Department Store fire, a significant incident in the history of the City of Liverpool. The event recognised the service, dedication and sacrifice of fire service personnel across Merseyside.

It was an honour to attend and lay a wreath to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
