One of our Deputy Lieutenants, Sue Higginson OBE, attended the Mayor and Mayoress of Wirral’s Vintage Tea Dance, on behalf of the Lord-Lieutenant, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VJ Day. Lots of Wirral seniors gathered at the Town Hall as our community remembered the many who served and gave their lives for us, we celebrated the anniversary of their victory.
Sue said, “We enjoyed hearing some wonderful stories, looked at medals and photos of those who served, kindly shared by their family. We learnt some dance steps, including from a senior aged 94 years young, and served lots of tea and cake to wonderful people. What a lovely community event.”
